prop swords

I'm playing around with turning wooden swords into more realistic looking prop swords for costuming. This particular project was just to see what I could do if I wanted to spruce up a sword quickly for a costume, so I took some Rub n Buff and did the hilt in gold and the blade in silver. If I was continuing the process I'd wrap the handle with a leather strip, as it is I plan to sand everything down and do a better job later. But overall, not bad for a quick experiment.

Next time I'll sand it down nicely, do a layer or two of a black or dark grey primer, then apply the Rub n Buff followed by a layer of furniture wax for overall shine and protection, then wrap the handle.
